Parse
– When a page in RealCart is parsed, your product data, company data and other RealCart settings are merged with the templates creating your finished pages. Parsing occurs each time you Rebuild Pages in RealCart. When you rebuild a single page or when rebuilding them all the parser in RealCart loads each template, locates RealCart square tags and replaces them with data from the RealCart database, the Windows registry or from a RealCart snippit file in the Template folder.
pay.html
- This is the checkout page in RealCart. Many different pay templates are available for each of the major payment gateways and order providers. Each time you click OK in the Checkout Wizard this page is rebuilt. The pay.html templates are in the common folder.
Payment Gateway
- A Payment Gateway provides credit card processing, billing, reporting and
settlement and operational services to acquiring and issuing banks, manages the process of
transferring authorized and captured credit card funds between different
financial accounts such as the merchants company checking account. These corporations
typically charge merchants a discount rate and a transaction fee for this service. These fees vary
from processor to processor. Authorize.Net is an example of
such a processor. See also secure order provider. A complete list of RealCart compatible payment gateways is available here.
PayPal
– PayPal is an account-based system that lets anyone with an email address securely send and receive online payments using their credit card or bank account. It is the most popular way to electronically pay for eBay auctions and it is becoming a cheap way for merchants to accept credit cards on their on-line storefronts instead of using a traditional payment gateway.
PERL (Practical Extraction and Report Language)
- Perl is a programming language developed by Larry Wall, especially designed for processing text. Because of its strong text processing abilities, Perl has become one of the most popular languages for writing CGI scripts. Perl is an interpretive language, which makes it easy to build and test simple programs.
PGP (Pretty Good Privacy)
- PGP is a popular program used to encrypt and decrypt e-mail over the Internet. It can also be used to send an encrypted digital signature that lets the receiver verify the sender's identity and know that the message was not changed en route. Available both as freeware and in a low-cost commercial version, PGP is the most widely used privacy-ensuring program by individuals and is also used by many corporations. Developed by Philip R. Zimmermann in 1991, PGP has become a de facto standard for e-mail security. PGP can also be used to encrypt files being stored so that they are unreadable by other users or intruders.
PIN (personal identification number)
- An alphanumeric or numeric code used to verify the identity of an individual
attempting to use a credit card, debit card, or other account
Pixel
- A pixel (a word invented from picture element) is the basic unit of programmable color on a computer display or in a computer image. Think of it as a logical - rather than a physical - unit. The physical size of a pixel depends on how youve set the resolution for the display screen. If youve set the display to its maximum resolution, the physical size of a pixel will equal the physical size of the dot pitch (lets just call it the dot size) of the display. If, however, youve set the resolution to something less than the maximum resolution, a pixel will be larger than the physical size of the screens dot (that is, a pixel will use more than one dot).
POS terminal (point of sale terminal )
- An electronic device used for verifying and processing credit card transactions.
If the credit card is available, the merchant can swipe the card through the
terminal. See also swipe discount rate and MOTO discount rate.
Point of Service
- Merchant location where the cardholder agrees the transaction takes place.
Postcardware
- Postcardware is not freeware. Although the software does not cost money you are kindly requested to say "thank you" to the author by sending him or her a nice postcard. Mailing a postcard to obtain a license to software is certainly worth the effort.
product.html
- This is the template file in RealCart that controls how your product pages display your products. Modifying this template will affect all of your product pages. Different product template files may be assigned to different products by simply selecting a new template from the template pull-down menu above the browser window in RealCart.
Product Wizard
- The Product wizard in RealCart is the wizard based interface that appears when you click the New Product (or other product buttons) in the RealCart large toolbar. This is the area of RealCart that allows you to specify your product information including stock number, item name, item description, price, taxable status, weight, features, etc.
Progressive JPEG (JPG)
– A progressive JPG, like an interlaced GIF file, builds as it downloads, going from a crude representation of the image to its finished look. While this is a nice format for the Web, not all browsers support progressive JPG images, so we discourage you from saving an image in this format. RealCart will not display progressive JPG files making them easier to spot. See also baseline JPEG.
Public Key Encryption
- A method of encrypting electronic data. Developed to account for weaknesses in
symmetric encryption, public key encryption does not require the transmission of
decoding keys themselves.
Publish
- The act of transferring your RealCart cart folder pages from your local PC to your web server via the internet. RealCarts Finish Button launches the internal publishing wizard.
Publishing Wizard
- The publishing wizard allows RealCart to publish to your web hosting space on an FTP server. The publishing wizard can be executed by pressing the Finish Button on RealCarts large toolbar.
